"Let’s Fix Dating"
Nothing says romance like monosyllabic messages, unsolicited pictures and catfishing.
BACKGROUND + STRATEGY
Dating app users the world over will recognise behaviours such as unsolicited images and monosyllabic messages, but not all dating apps are built equally. Badoo is designed to make dating fun again. To help bring this to life, we partnered with Badoo on a playfilm film series.
THE WORK
“Let’s Fix Dating” brings ridiculous dating app behaviours into the real world, and shows how Badoo’s features help daters avoid them. We collaborated closely with the brand’s in-house global creative team on the concept and scripts, then led productions in Sofia, Bulgaria. The films rolled out in 10+ markets as TVC and on social channels in their first quarter.
THE TALENT
We ended up commissioning renowned comedy director Sami Abusamra, for his expertise in humorous campaigns, we knew he would execute the brand’s tone perfectly. If you know anything about filming comedy, you know it can’t be forced, that’s where Sami stepped in and set the atmosphere to create authentic moment’s, you can literally feel the awkwardness radiating from your screen... Driving our diversity mission and drawing on our global network of production talent, we presented a director shortlist to Badoo consisting of a 50/50 male/female split with an inclusion of 25% PoC variety.
