Motion Graphics Designer for Social-First "Weird & Wonderful" Assets

BriefLive

Project Overview

We're looking for a motion graphics designer to create a series of highly engaging, social-first assets built around a playful, chaotic, and meme-native visual language.
Turning vox pop style video content into scroll stopping social videos, gifs and memes.

The style should feel weird, wonderful, fast-paced and internet-savvy, using a glitchy, kitsch sticker aesthetic with layered motion graphics, unexpected visual gags, cut-outs, overlays, captions, and animated embellishments that amplify the content and maximise shareability.

Creative Direction
The work should feel native to platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and meme culture.

Visual references include:

  • Glitchy motion graphics

  • Kitsch sticker aesthetics

  • Internet collage culture

  • Meme formats and visual humour

  • Unexpected transitions and visual interruptions

  • Mixed-media treatments and layered compositions

The goal is to elevate the content through motion design that is entertaining in its own right while supporting the narrative.

Required Experience
We're specifically looking for someone with strong experience creating motion graphics for social platforms.

The ideal candidate should:

  • Have a proven portfolio of social-first motion graphics work

  • Demonstrate experience creating TikTok-native and meme-worthy content

  • Be highly proficient in Adobe After Effects

  • Have experience augmenting and enhancing interview, documentary or talking-head footage with motion graphics

  • Be comfortable working quickly and iterating for social performance

  • Have strong creative instincts for comedy, absurdity and visual storytelling

  • Understand pacing, attention-grabbing hooks and retention techniques for short-form content

Nice-to-Haves

  • Strong awareness of current internet culture, memes and platform trends

  • Experience working with creators, entertainment brands or social publishers

  • Illustration or asset-creation capabilities

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted creative workflows

We're looking for someone who can bring inventive ideas to the table and help transform footage into standout social content through clever, comedic and highly stylised motion design.
